Sri Lanka VS Australia
This is the match of the world cup. There are many rivalries like those between India and Pakistan and Australia and New Zealand, India and Australia which are probably touted as really big ones. The rivalry between Australia and Sri Lanka though always has been played down a little is one of the biggest of the rivalries we can see in the world cups.
Sri Lanka played Australia and beat them in the finals in 1996 when Australia refused to play the finals in SL due to security concerns and this fired up the Lankans for a wc win.
In 2007 world cup, Australia beat SL in the finals to lift the world cup. Thus in the two finals Australia have won once and SL once. Shane Watson is the highest run getter for Australia in this world cup but Malinga's bowling has been terrific. Will Australia survive Malinga in the current form he is in?? Thats the big question.
This match will be a litmus test for Australians who have been unbeaten in the tournament for almost 7 years now.
Australia will also be looking to get revenge of the beat down by SL in the one day series in their home turf.
